For the month of January, we have chosen to read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone!
3. Write a sentence from the story that you were able to see. Draw a picture to illustrate the sentence.
4. Since _____ happened, I think _____ will happen.
Since Harry was living with his uncle and aunt, I think he will live with his grandparents next.
5. Find and record 2 words with prefixes. Write the definition of the prefix and each word.
Uneasy means not-easy. Disappeared means not there
6. Read the favorite part of your book to someone in your family. Discuss why this is your favorite part. (Mom)
9. What point of view is your book told in? List at least 2 words the narrator uses to support your answer.
It is in third person, the person talking is talking about other people's actions. No sentences start with I or we.
10. What is the main idea of your reading today? Support with at least 2 details from the story.
The main idea of the chapter is about Dudley's birthday. The Dursleys were home and Dudley got mad because he got less presents than the year before. They also went to the zoo.
11. When I finished reading today, I thought _____
I wondered why Harry got so many letters everywhere he went.
12. The reason _____ happened is because of _____
The reason Dudley got mad is because he only had 37 presents that year.
13. Read at least 3 pages of your book aloud to someone in your family. Remember to read with expression. (Mom)
17. Write a summary to tell me what you read about, in the order that it happened (at least 2 events). Harry got a letter but wasn't allowed to read it. He got more and more letters, and that made Uncle Vernon mad. Harry tried many secret ways to get the letter and Uncle Vernon blocked a lot of places in the house. For every spot he blocked, new letters came from another place, so Uncle Vernon made everyone live somewhere else.
18. What do you predict will happen next? Support with at least one detail from the story.
I think someone will go to Harry's new house door and ask why Harry wasn't allowed to have his letters.
19. Write 2 to 3 sentences to tell what events in the story could happen to you.
Harry wasn't allowed to have his mail. On my birthday, family that doesn't live close to me always sends me birthday mail. If it comes in early, my mom won't let me have it until my birthday.

23. Write one question you have about your reading today.
